Drew Sangster’s Early Life
Drew Sangster was born and raised in the Highlands of Scotland, an area known for its dramatic landscapes and rugged terrain. Drew attended a local comprehensive school where he developed a passion for learning. He excelled at physics and mathematics, and after completing high school he decided to study engineering at university. However, after only two years of study he found that he had a greater interest in the environment than in engineering, and so he switched to study geography instead.
After completing his degree in geography, Drew worked as a research associate for several environmental charities before becoming a full-time environmental advisor in 2009. In this role, Drew provides support to businesses and government organisations who are working to improve the sustainability of their operations. He also lectures extensively on environmental issues, sharing his knowledge with audiences around the world.
Drew is widely considered one of the leading experts on climate change and sustainable development, and his work has earned him numerous honours including an OBE (Officer of the British Empire) from Queen Elizabeth II in 2013. He currently lives with his wife and two young children in central Scotland.
Drew Sangster’s Career as a Golfer
Drew Sangster was born in the Highlands of Scotland in 1985. As a youngster, he enjoyed playing football and cricket. However, when he was twelve, Drew discovered golf. He quickly became enamored with the game, and spent many hours practicing at local courses.
In 2003, Drew won his first professional tournament, the Scottish Boys Amateur Championship. A year later, he advanced to the British Amateur Championship Finals where he lost to eventual champion Graeme McDowell by one stroke.
In 2007, Drew turned pro and made his debut on the European Tour. That year he also won The Open Championship at Muirfield Village Golf Club in England. He became only the fourth golfer ever to win both The Open Championship and The Masters Tournament in the same season (the other threebeing Tiger Woods, Jim Furyk, and Phil Mickelson).
Drew has since gone on to win numerous other major championships including The PGA Championship (2008), The US Open (2009), and The World Cup of Golf (2010). In 2013, he became only the fifth golfer ever to win all four major championships: The Masters, US Open, PGA Championship, and World Cup of Golf.

Drew Sangster’s Retirement Plans
Drew Sangster is retiring after a long and successful career in the Highland Games. started competing at age 12 and has competed in every event there is to compete in, from Greco-Roman wrestling to caber tossing. He’s even won a few medals along the way!
Drew tells us that his retirement plans are simple – he wants to spend more time with his family and enjoy all of the activities he’s missed out on while he was working. He says that his favorite part about retirement is being able to travel and meet new people.

The Highlands Retreat and how it came to be
The property is located in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains, on the banks of the beautiful Kaweah River. It was originally used as a hunting and fishing lodge, but has since evolved into a unique B&B experience with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.
